“The Creative Process” – 10 Steps for Creating ANYTHING by Tiffany Shlain
Tiffany Shlain is a professional filmmaker who has created numerous short, high-energy, image-rich videos about how the human brain functions, learns, and creates. In this video, Tiffany gives us 10 powerful steps to follow for creating ANYTHING.
Whatever creative project you’re working on, Tiffany’s perspective on creativity is well worth viewing. And whether or not you do all 10 steps while you’re creating something new (or refining something you’ve already created), just knowing what the steps are – even if you skip some – is also well worth it.
Note: To view in full screen, click on the “play” arrow key in the middle of the video, then click on the bottom right icon when it appears on the screen.
Once you’ve viewed the video above, take a few more minutes to think about this 10-step creative process with specific reference to teaching, training, speaking, presenting – i.e. anytime you’re engaged in creating a learning experience for others. Here are a few questions to get your mental creative juices flowing:
1. Can you use some/all of the steps while creating or refining a specific class, workshop, or training program?
2. How will knowing these 10 steps help you to create a more effective and brain-friendly learning experience for others?
3. Which steps will be especially helpful for you as a trainer, teacher, instructor, or learning facilitator?
4. Which steps are you already doing and which do you want to add to your own creative process?
I featured two other excellent videos created by Tiffany in my blog posts titled “Brain Power: From Neurons to Networks” by Tiffany Shlain and “the Adaptable Mind” by Tiffany Shlain.
